UTIMCO Annual Report earns MDS Bronze ADDY
Award winning annual reports please university fund management giant UTIMCO
 The University of Texas Investment Management Company, UTIMCO is one of the top five largest and most successful university fund management organizations in the United States, leading all but a handful of the mammoth investment management groups representing premiere U.S. universities such as Harvard and Yale. Since 1999, MDS has worked closely with UTIMCO designing a series of award winning, innovative and sophisticated annual reports for the organization.
Austin, TX—MDS was recently awarded the prestigious 2006 Bronze ADDY for its most recent annual report design for UTIMCO. The American Advertising Federation produces the annual ADDY awards competition. Described as one of the toughest creative advertising competitions, the contest attracts over 60,000 entries from around the country annually.
UTIMCO oversees and manages $19.3 billion in funds belonging to the University of Texas System, the A&M University System and other state institutions. It is ranked in the stratosphere of kindred organizations such as the fund managers for Harvard, Yale and Stanford universities.
MDS's innovative design for their client's most recent annual report was a 21-piece collateral set designed around the original theme, ‘The State of Investing’. The design had to deliver a complex catalog of financial and performance information which could be tailored for UTIMCO’s diverse and extremely sophisticated audience of investors, fund managers, financial advisors and philanthropists.
The flexible, four-color annual report MDS designed was built with integrated collateral components which could be configured and reconfigured to fit individual donor interests. The package included financials on CD, a user-friendly technical innovation designed to be combined with other collateral elements.
As stewards of public trust and major investments, UTIMCO requires its annual report to strike a subtle and successful balance between simplicity and industry eminence. The design approach for the report needed to communicate the organization’s visionary leadership, fiduciary acumen and its high level of professionalism and success, at the same time clarifying information which communicates the complex activities of the $19.3 billion package of investment funds managed by the organization.
