At MDS Advertising, we embrace our “inner green.” Both in the way we inhabit our studio and the way we produce work for our clients, we strive to be as environmentally conscious as possible. We hope to be an example to other businesses who want to become greener as well.

Our creative studio is nestled in the middle of a ten-acre natural park-like setting. We are passionate about the environment and feel it is important to live eco-friendly lives. In fact, “green talk” is commonplace around our water filter. From the structure of the building to operating it with 100% renewable energy, MDS seeks to make Austin—and the world around us—just a little bit greener.

The MDS building is filled with eco-friendly features. In order to cut down on the use of new materials, Principals David Hubbard and Victoria Marasco decided to remodel the existing structure instead of tearing it down. They installed energy-efficient air conditioning units, low-water toilets, a solar water heater and xeriscaping, which is the use of all-native landscaping that does not require irrigation. The owners and most of the employees at MDS enjoy cooking and sharing organic foods and we support local farmers.

MDS Advertising would like to extend an invitation to other businesses to ”go green”. In addition to traditional printing services, we have started a Green Printing program that we hope will educate and inspire others to become more eco-friendly. Green Printing uses special papers, inks, and printing techniques that are better for the environment without reducing the quality of the printed piece. Printing green is easy and can be done with most collateral pieces. Clients also have the option of adding certified “green” logos to their printed collateral pieces to promote involvement and support of sustainability efforts. Clients who choose to print green are also recognized on the MDS Advertising website.

Several other programs have been implemented here at MDS to promote environmental awareness. We were one of the first businesses to adopt GreenChoice® back in 2004, a 100% renewable energy program from Austin Energy. This means that 100% of the electricity we use at the MDS Creative Studio is generated from all-natural sources such as sun, wind, and methane gas. We offset our carbon footprint for all air travel and each employee’s commute to and from work by contributing to CarbonFund.org. MDS also participates in a local recycling program.
